Bigots with Badges
Matthew Fogg, founder of Congress Against Racism and Corruption in Law Enforcement (CARCLE), joins this special edition of Conversations Toward Repair to share his personal story and how it illustrates violence and race-based discrimination in law enforcement. He also discusses demands of Black U.S. Marshals and civil rights coalition in response to President Biden’s May 25 executive order on accountability in law enforcement.
Coalition demands include addressing civilian review boards, qualified immunity, whistleblower rights, and other national issues. In addition, the coalition is demanding a complete investigation of the case of Alaunte Scott, killed by US Marshals on Feb 28 of this year in DC’s Ward 8, and release of related video footage.
See below for notes on the case of US Marshals killing Frankie Jennings, in Charlotte VA in 2021.
Here is some background from CARCLE on the demands.
Here is the order itself from the White House, and a shorter fact sheet.
And here is a story from Washington Informer, which includes links to case of Alaunte Scott and additional reporting.
